Do you have a desire or the passion to teach others? Through teaching and demonstration, nurse educators help those interested in a healthcare career become competent and efficient nurses.
A nurse educator is part of the nursing faculty group of a college or university. Registered nurses who are full-time nurse educators earn between $61,000 and $100,000 while those working part-time have reported salaries ranging between $25,000 and $49,000. To become a nurse educator you need to hold an active registered nurse license in your state, and usually complete an advanced degree in nursing such as a master's degree or a doctoral degree. A more advanced education and more years of experience or specialized training will result in a higher annual salary.
A nurse educator has obtained extensive clinical training, knowledge, and skills in a specific specialty area. As part of the nursing faculty, the nurse educator may function as a part-time or as a full-time instructor. The nurse educator may eventually advance to the position of dean of a college of nursing. The majority of nurse educators choose to work part-time in a clinical setting while teaching at a college or university.
